New data for April-July 2021 has demonstrated that the Yorkshire Kidney Screening Trial recruited 793 participants, making it the highest recruiting trial in the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.
The news comes after the publication in May of an article by trial leads Professor Grant Stewart and Dr Juliet Usher-Smith which indicated that a risk stratified model of kidney cancer screening would be acceptable to the public.
The study, led by Urological Malignancies lead Professor Grant Stewart and funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research, is investigating the feasibility of introducing an additional scan for kidney cancer to mobile lung screening programmes. This trial is funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research and delivered in partnership with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the University of Leeds and Leeds City Council.
